A couple of points about this weekend.

1. We currently have maybe 2 to 3 inches of snow, and it has been raining nearly nonstop over the past two days. In case you aren't sure, being that you aren't here to witness it yourself, it is in fact the worst weather that can possibly exist.

2. When Kristy isn't here, I tend to eat things like a big bowl of beans with potato chips crunched up in it.

3. When I was at the library today, I overheard the following two conversations, both featuring Boulder hippies.

Conversation one.

Old Hippie: (to another unseen hippie) I bought an ounce of weed yesterday and gave the whole thing away. I can only hope that someday, someone else will come up to me and get me stoned.

Reply: It's karma, man.

Conversation two.

Hippie 1: Hey Bruce. You got snacks?

Hippie 2 (Bruce): ...

Hippie 1: Bruce.

Bruce: ...

Hippie 1: Bruce, you got snacks?

Bruce: Crack?

(There is a long pause.)

Hippie 1: Yeah.

(silence)

Bruce: You're looking for crack?

Hippie 1: Why, you got any?

Bruce: No. I haven't done it in awhile, but I'll do some.

Hippie 1: I was asking if you had any snacks.

Bruce: Oh. I thought you were looking for crack.

(At this point, another library patron snickers. Did I mention that they didn't feel the need to whisper)

Hippie 1: No, you got any snacks?

Bruce: Cheese. You want some?

Hippie 1: Let's go.

(They leave. As I said, they didn't bother whispering, and it was in the "be quiet, we're studying" section, so everyone CLEARLY heard them)

Fricken Boulder.

Great story!

There was a wonderful and yet seedy diner on Industrial Blvd (or Cesar Chavez Blvd if you prefer) and eating there 20+ yrs ago, I overheard 2 guys discussing which was better - the city jail or the county jail. I think the city had a payphone in each cell but no TV and the county had a TV but no pay phone. There numerous other differences but I definitely remember those.

I have tried to live my life in such a way since then, that I never have to find out.

did the generous hippie in conversation one have a wwjd bracelet on? because i feel like jesus would also give away his supply of marijuana for the benefit of others. that's the kind of god i serve, at least. *bows head in reverence*

In convo 2, replace the Hippie and Bruce with Cool Guy Patrol. What do you think about that?

An old friend who was a librarian used to tell me funny library stories, but they usually involved people looking at porn and then denying it; nothing like those convos - I guess the library here will seem boring to you in comparison!
